Not my fault -honest !

My very first blogger post clearly states that I will not start any new quilts. So a few weeks down the line I am wondering how come since that first post I have started 3 new projects- lol !
One is done - Millies quilt, and one is a nice hand -piecing thing that I can do in bed ! But the third one !!!!
I go to a small quilting group every Tuesday. No pressure at all there just a few ladies doing a bit of stitching and a lot of talking ! Last Tuesday my friend Jill casually hands me a bag and says " I was wondering if these are any good to you - I know you like scrappy quilts."

"Ooh yes please ! " said me snatching her hand off.

Got home and tipped them out thinking I will just sort them !

Some of these were strips that I've put to one side for another time but a lot of them were odd shaped little bits. Too good to throw away that's for sure. The cogs were starting to turn. In my scrap drawer I have a lot of bigger scraps and I was thinking of a way to combine them. Because the little scraps were uneven I thought paper piecing would be a good idea. Combined with a bit of left over cream calico here's the block I came up with.
Each block measures 4inches finished so I have a way to go to make anything of a decent size. This will be an inbetweeny project I think. I've roughly cut some triangles of the 2 sizes I need and they're perched next to my machine ready for when I have a few spare minutes.
So really it's not a new quilt - more of a time-filler ! I've almost convinced myself lol !

At 4" those flying geese have to be very tiny!! Wonderful blocks. I can see how you could not resist!!!

WOW! I love what you came up with! Ya know...You could use some of those blocks in another bucket tote or a Doll Quilt.

They just came out fantastic!

Love it! So scrappy and looks so nice. Don't think I have the patience for such small geese, but they do look amazing - well done!!

Now we know who to see our teeny scraps to LOL

Oh, yes I just loooove scraps (sometimes I get more excited by the leftover scraps than the actual fabric! LOL!) Love the blocks!

I would have snatched up that bag JUST as fast, a fabric diet can wait!
I am always so impressed with your work. That is a very clever way to use up those little scraps. I may just have to start piecing out a bunch of geese from my scraps basket now.
Thanks again for inspiration.

Just gorgeous!!!

That's going to be lovely! You didn't violate a fabric diet because those small bits and pieces were given to you....and you couldn't let them go to waste!!!!

Well now just cuz you got a bag of scraps doesn't mean you have to start something new!

Those are terrific scrap blocks. Either you are very creative with fabric, that scrap bag was full of inspiration or both.

Someone else's scraps are always more fun than our own. I love what you did with the flying geese and wow so small. Yes...it's not a new project just a filler :-)

The call of free scraps cannot be resisted!I come back time and again to the bits that people give me, when I've got drawers full of new fabric waiting. Your blocks are gorgeous, those little triangles will use up the tiniest pieces.

that is amazing! I like to have a "time filler" sitting by the machine for those few minutes waiting for the repairman, waiting for my DH to get ready, waiting for dinner to finish in the over...seems like I do a lot of waiting no?!

The brights really wake up this block, as I've usually seen it in Jo Morton-type fabrics. Of course, I've never seen it this size. They look awesome and I'm looking forward to the finished quilt.

Of course, we would all get home and have to "just sort them!!" I loved that, and especially loved what they lead to...I am meant to be here looking at the bag tutorial, and catching up on the latest but I am so easily distracted by good stuff! Tracey
