Done, done, done !

Hurray - my Mariners Compass is completely finished ( well except for a hanging sleeve ) and here it is.

Paper pieced star and all hand-quilted. I went with the very dark brown from the second border for the binding as it seemed to look the best. I think these photos should click for a close-up.

I feel very pleased with myself that it did not become a UFO like so many other things I start. I get back to them all eventually but this one was worked on from start to finish. Don't do that too often these days.

I worked on the quilting in the evenings whilst DH was watching TV so now I am casting my mind around for something else to do. Like so many of you my hands have to be moving - lol ! I think I know what will be worked on next - a UFO quite a while in the making. Just got to remember where it is !

I am still cutting scraps and have started sewing them together. This is my daytime project for when I have a bit of time. I very rarely machine sew at night - do you ?

Take care xxx

Just beautiful!! You must be just ecstatic about this wonderful finish! Yes, I do sew at night on occasion. It really depends on what is going on in the evening.

I love the compass, guess you were right about changing the border! It's a lovely piece of work. I sometimes machine stitch at night but usually that's for hand work while the TV is on, too!

Nice job! The quilt is beautiful. I do mostly hand sewing at night and sew with my machine during the day though now with the nice weather, not sure how much that will be happening.

Well done.....something I have never been game to attempt after almost having a nervous breakdown some years ago in a class where I had to paper piece a star. And is the quilt finished......not on your Nelly!
But I did sew tonight so that is a triumph. I was running out of garden to photograph.
Congratulations, it is fabulous.

It looks great! I rarely machine sew at night, it's too dark and too lonely in my sewing room at night. Although I will go in if I really want to finish something!

Your Mariner's Compass Quilt is
BEA-U-TI-FUL!
The colors are all so perfect. I am hopeful that someday I will be able to hand quilt something like you do. The quilting looks fantastic!

Beautiful quilt and the hand quilting is wonderful!!
I tend to quilt during the day and knit in the evenings (machine makes too much noise and I can't risk waking the little one once he is asleep!!)

Well done, it's beautiful. I have to say again how much I love the blue border and how it looks like a folded ribbon.

I sometimes machine sew at night because I work during the day and wouldn't get much done if I didn't; but I much prefer to do hand sewing in the evenings as it's so relaxing.

Congrats on your finish, its lovely!! As to your question, I try to squeeze in quilting time where I can, so I do a fair ammount of my sewing in the evening after my kiddos head off to bed. I'm so much more productive when there is that peace and quiet ;cD

your quilt is just amazing!! I love hand quilting, so relaxing. I can never use my sewing machine at night, just have to use natural light!

Great finish!
That was really quick for being quilted by hand!
Yes...I often sew at night. Sometimes it's the only time I get to sew, therefore I must use it!
What hand work are you doing? Hexxies?

This looks absolutely wonderful! The brown border and binding are perfect! I often machine for an hour after tea, but finish by 9 and watch the tv/read/hand sew.
