Feeling overwhelmed.

It all started on Saturday morning when the post lady knocked the door bright and early. I knew what she had for me as I had been waiting for a little something I had ordered.

Something I had wanted for a long time.

Like all quilting fabric in UK these are very expensive so I have never had one before. Doodling about on the net last week I saw http://www.fatquartershop.com/ had a sale on. When I realised I could get 2 shipped over for about the price I would pay for one over here I just had to do some clicking.

They are gorgeous and after a quick fondle I was on the computer looking for patterns to use them.

Then I got to thinking about all the other quilts I have in progress - many ! I wouldn't know where to start on counting them. Then I thought about all the fabric I have - enough to make a quilt for every person in Wales I should imagine. Then I thought about all the patterns I have and magazines with projects earmarked for " to-do" sometime and I got a little overwhelmed. I love my hobby and that's why like so many others I have so much of everything.

So, ignoring the jelly rolls for now I dug out one of several big plastic crates I have containing some UFO's and picked one that I would like to finish. It is one I started about 4-ish years ago. A very simple design but for some reason I appear to have gone mad when it came to borders. They are much more involved than the main bit of the quilt.

I had attached one side and the rest was all in bits.

So that's how I spent Sunday - trying to work out measurements and stuff. I have another border on now and next step is to make corner blocks.

Not sure about the size of this - wish it was wider. Funny when you come back to something how you wonder quite what you were thinking.

My quilt group has a finish-it-up day on Saturday and I'm hoping to get this ready for basting on the big tables there. If not I'm sure I'll find something else to take along - lots to choose from - lol !

Whilst working out measurements for this I rolled up my rug and stuck it on a chair. Wasn't too long before this happened.

Could not get him out for ages - silly Tizer.

See you soon xx

The jelly rolls look great and I can't wait to see what you do with them. I can believe your cat Tizer wanted to stay in there.

Andrea, You know that I just loved the picture of Tizer, such a cute kitty! I really like that 9-patch. Putting them on point gives them a whole new look. Those jelly rolls look fabulous. I have had one for a while, but just can't seem to cut into it. LOL Winona

I rather like the quilt in progress. You always do lovely work. Maybe you could reward yourself with the jelly rolls after finishing that one?

Your quilts really speak to me. It is hard to revisit a project after a long span of time has passed. But oh the reward of the finish.

Jelly Rolls...so exciting! So many possibilities! I have three waiting for me...but I can't think of a project worthy of them. They're actually hard to unroll and use because they're so pretty just how they are!! But you MUST. Can't wait to see what you do with them...

Love the jelly rolls and I know what you mean about feeling a bit overwhelmed by the abundance in the sewing room. Take it one step at a time and have fun after all that's why you bought the fabric in the first place. Love the photo of Tizer by the way - he looks so comfy.

My word, Tizer looks as if he is just daring you to get him out!!
I won some gorgeous Anna Maria Horner fabric, & now I am wondering how to use it!!
I looked at her website, but I dont have enough to make any of her patterns... will have to keep looking!
Your Jelly Rolls look so tempting... with zero calories they are even better!

Tizer is so cute!!!

And yeah re: "Funny when you come back to something how you wonder quite what you were thinking." I put notes in with my UFO's but they end up cryptic. Not only "what was I thinking" but "what the heck did I write/intend this to mean?"

I was smiling reading your post...I know exactly what you mean! For now, you can work on UFO's and just enjoy looking at your new jelly rolls and dream about future projects!

Found you looking for a braid quilt and I see many interesting posts. I love those jelly rolls but I dare not buy one more bit of fabric for a while. LOL

Love the kitty picture! Great job finishing up that UFO.. I have lots of them that need 'finishing' but they will get done when the mood strikes! Have fun with the jelly rolls... I think finishing a UFO gives you the reward of playing with one of them! Can't wait to see what you do with it.
Oh, hope you are off the boil water notice... ours was lifted after 8 days. Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment!
