Summer Swap quilt.

As my Summer Swap quilt has now reached it's new home I'm safe to put this on my blog now. This went to the lovely Julia. She was also my swap partner for the Winter swap and I knew she read my blog so I was very good and showed no pictures at all.

I was a bit stumped as what to do for this one but eventually after a false start came up with this.

I even did a bit of applique which is NOT my favourite thing. I need to practise I think !

Anyway Julia sent me a lovely email thanking me very much which was appreciated as I have been involved in a couple of swaps lately where I received no thanks at all. On one I was left wondering if my package had got there.

So that's the end of the 4seasons swap. I did 3 out of the 4 and really enjoyed it. Thankyou to Margaret for all her hard work. My quilt wall is looking lovely. I am also doing a couple of private swaps so my collection will be growing still further. Fun ? Oh yes . . .

I decided this week to have a sort out of my fabrics as they were looking a bit muddled. I tried to get them all in colour order of a sort. During this I noticed my BIG scrap box was very full so that only means one thing..

Now here in Britain our energy prices are going mad. Our heating costs have doubled and a bit more the last few months. So this Winter I am going to be a bit more careful with our heating bills. I must admit I am the worst culprit. The first sign of a bit of a chill and on goes the heating. We keep hearing on the news that Britain is in a recession and we have a "credit crunch" going on. So to do my bit I have decided to make DH Jason his very own "credit crunch quilt" - lol ! In 5 years of quilting I have not made him a quilt to call his own. Bad wife !!! So he is getting one whether he wants one or not.

Not sure where this is going but at least now I can get the lid back on my scrap box.

Both children have several quilts and I have a couple that I wrap up in when I'm reading or something so now Jason can join the quilt gang - lol !

I never watch TV but I love the Olympics and have been doing some hand sewing. Pictures in next post. . .

Lovely swap quilt. I know what you mean about applique -- I don't really enjoy doing it, but I probably just need to practice.

Your DH's quilt is off to a great start -- love the scrappy look!

Hi, i know what you mean about the heating. I put ours on far too readily too.
I is awful that you have had had swap partners who haven't thanked you. Am about to do my first swaps and would be very dispapointed if I recieved no thanks.
Love the flying geese.

An absolutely beautiful quilt you made for the swap - and can that be hand quilted???? Gosh that is pretty! You sure put in the time and talent into that project.

Those flying geese can just fly right on over to my house if they need a nest. They look grrrrrrrrreat!

Lovely little quilt! And DH's scrappy geese will be great too! Well we have no heating at all so perhaps I should make myself a quilt and then if he still doesn't fix it, I can make myself another.. LOL.
Our heating broke down while we were away and he sees no point in fixing it until we need to move the Raeburn into the, as yet, unbuilt kitchen and it's so cold tonight I could do with putting the heating on to take the chill of this 'beautiful' (!!!) summer's evening (it's been raining ALL day - again!)

How can you make the flying geese so exact, everything matching. The summer quilt you sent is so well quilted. You are a master!

My poor DH has the energy crisis and my hormonal changes to make him a candidate for his very own quilt LOL! That's a lot of flying geese and it will make a beautiful quilt.

The quilt you sent to Julia is lovely. Your applique looks pretty good to me.

I had a fossick in your scraps ( hehe )and isn't it surprising I haven't seen any of the fabrics you have..... the only one I have the same as you is the red in the borders on your Summer quilt. I think it is exciting that there are so many different fabrics available in different countries that I will never even get to see them all. It's like a giant treasure hunt !

I laughed so hard when I read about the flying geese and you didn't know what that was all about yet but the lid could now go back on your scrap box. I hear you. I don't know where all those scraps come from.....I use as many as possible but they just keep growning! LOL

Your summer swap quilt is so pretty!

I have to confess that I have become addicted to watching the Olympics and sitting in from of the tv is a great excuse to get out the stitching!

Your swap quilt is gorgeous!!! The stitching is incredible!
It is alays nice to get a thank you. It seems we send a little piece of ourselves in these little quilts. No thank you is kin to a rejection I think. Not all people had our mother's to teach them manners!
Blessings to you!!!

Great idea to make DH a 'credit crunch' quilt!! So this winter there'll be no excuse not to turn the thermostat down and snuggle under a quilt instead :)
