Could this be . . .

. . . a finished quilt ?? Oh yes it really is..

It is Patricks quillow that has been a long time in the making. As I said it was a real chore to get it finished as I totally went off it once the blocks were together. Patrick was doing a bit of nagging so I thought it should get done. He picked a fabric for the border that I really would not have chosen but I went along with it. And somehow although the blue was a completely different one to the blue in the blocks and was much brighter than any other colour it works. It really lifts the blocks and makes it nicer somehow. Patrick was not surprised that the border blue looks so good as he sais he knew it would - lol !

It is 60 inches square which is about as big as I like to go when machine quilting on my domestic machine. I just did a big meander with a dark grey thread which seemed to look fine even on the bright yellowy-gold stars. I was a bit unsure about that beforehand. You can see this perhaps clearer on this photo with one of my quilt inspectors.

This was actually finished a couple of nights ago but Patrick whipped it up to his bedroom and has slept under it since. He says it is lovely and warm. It is 100% cotton wadding and is nice and weighty. Should keep him cosy in the Winter !

I am glad this is done and even more glad that Patrick loves it. It would still be languishing about in a basket half done if he hadn't kept telling me that he really liked it and wanted it finished.

Here it is folded inside the pocket on the back. Patrick has said when he's slept under it he's used the pocket to slip his feet into - lol !

Job done !

Wow!! That came out great! It's the fanciest quillow I've ever seen. Love the cold feet in the pocket idea. :)

I think Patrick has an eye for these things because it looks wonderful! I am so pleased you finished it and it's so lovely that he clearly loves it so much. And of course there's the added bonus that his feet will be warm this winter LOL!

Great job. Patrick did a great job picking the border. I have a quillow one of my aunts made for me and the girls are forever trying to steal it. I really need to make them each one and then maybe I could get mine back.

STUNNING!!

Great secondary pattern, great colours.

Well done, I understand how satisfying it feels to get one finished and dragged off to a boy's bed immediately - my Patrick did the same thing with his 9 years ago!

Congrats! That came out great. He sure does know how to pick out colors that work well in the finished quilt. My DH loves to tuck his feet into the pocket of a quillow too!

Wow, it is gorgeous. When I say the two blocks separated I could not picture the finished result at all, but WOW!

Even though you found it hard work, I'm sure the fact that Patrick loves it makes it all worth while. I think it's beautiful, have never made a quillow but now I'm tempted!

OMG! What a great quilt...I mean quillow. The colors are vivid and I love the double pattern...the star and this a circular motion. Great job!

Glad the quillow is finished (for your sake!) and even better that Patrick is happy with it. My Mum made my two quillows a few years ago when we were in the car doing a lot of travelling. They have been great and now live in the lounge, must admit when I use them I pop my feet in the pocket too!!

When I saw your earlier post with the two blocks I was sure you had made the right choice in setting it aside. (sorry!)

But holy cow! What a beautiful quilt it turned out to be. What a lucky young man.

Congrats on the finish.
