In need of a fix !

.......a sewing fix that is - lol ! The only other addiction I have is chocolate honestly !

Anyway all week I have been feeling edgy as I just could not find any spare time to do any serious sewing. I needed about half an hour to finish a small swap and get it ready for posting but just could not get to it. Finally got it done - relief. Just seem to have been chasing my tail all week - cleaning, laundry, running people from A to B and so on. Jess also bought her first car this week and I have been sorting out the sale and car insurance ( what a minefield ) , car tax etc. Also helped her and her boyfriend clean it as they were more interested in having a water fight - kids !!

Yesterday I decided that come hell or high water I would get on my machine today and so I did.

After 10 minutes I could feel the tension ebb away. I actually had the house to myself for a couple of hours and it was bliss. As much as I love my family I must admit that they do not give me a minutes peace.

So the flying geese strips got some attention and I now know where I am going with this. I think I will do 5 blocks by 7 so these 9 are just the start. I must say I am excited by this one. Not a quick block really but I am going to try and do maybe 1 or 2 a day. These are not sewn together yet. I want to add more colours.

Jason likes it too which is good as it will be his quilt. Mind you I don't think he would dare say he doesn't like it the mood I've been in all week - lol !

I also found a little treasure this morning. Just doing some shopping when something caught my eye in a charity shop window. Cost me the princely sum of £1.50

It is the smallest one like this I have seen. The drawers are not lying completely straight so I will get out my screwdriver and have a play with it. It measures 8" by 4" by 4". I have a bit of an obsession with boxes - I'm sure I'll find something to put in here.

Lastly I would like to say a big thankyou to Ann in Texas. She saw a quilt on my blog and asked me for the pattern. As it was one I made up myself I set to and after much scratching of the head and chewing the end of my pencil I wrote out instructions. I drew up some paper foundations for her as well and posted them. Very nerve-wracking as I had never done this before. Ann kept asking me if she could pay me for this but I refused as it was a pleasure to do this. After a few emails we reached a compromise and yesterday I received a lovely gift of something I had seen in the American quilting magazines but have been unable to find over here.

Thankyou so much Ann - I love it and I'm sure I will be the envy of my quilting friends when I go back to my group after our Summer break.. Quilters rule - lol !!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend. I have a date with a bar of Cadburys :-)

What a lovely quilt .... I feel your pain with not being able to sew. I am at the stage where I am finally looking forward to the kids returning to school - I need to sew so badly, I really do.

now that's a funky rotary cutter...

On a different subject entirely, did you get my message about ALQS2 partners?

What a beautiful quilt that is going to be. I love the scrappiness of it. I wish I could get a few hours of peace and quiet to sew. Its never quiet at my house unless everyone is sleeping. LOL.

That was very generous of you to share your pattern. :)

Love the flying geese blocks - they are so colourful. My grandmother had a sewing box like that. No flowers on the lid and I'm sure it was bigger but it was soooo full of treasures...vbg. Aren't you lucky to find it. As for the Olfa cutter - trust me you will love it. They make life soooo much easier.

Quilt looks great as usual. The box is a good find. I have a thing about boxes as well. I have seen one of the sewing boxes at a local cheap shop, but not very well made (this is why its in a cheap shop), so I am little hesitant to pay a tenna, but you did well.

That's a lovely setting for flying geese Andrea! If he doesnt like it, I can think of a good home for it in South Wales! LOL!

I can´t believe you spent 1,50 on that box, by the way it is gorgeous. Your quilt will be beautiful and I am sure it was not your bad mood that made Jason say he liked it.

The flying geese are beautiful...they all look so precise! Do you paper piece them or is there a trick I should know to make mine as pretty as yours?

Ahh, those blissful moments of complete solitude and time at the machine!! A much needed balance to the demand and joy of families.

I love this new quilt! You have such a clever way with setting your blocks and coming up with new ideas. Maybe you should write and sell patterns!
Enjoy the new rotary cutter.

Oh, love those geese. And I'm glad I'm not the only one whose days fly by and then I realize I'm agitated because my sewing machine has dust on it!

Blessings for many days at that sewing machine!

Sewing is so (SEW) theraputic. Lovely quilt. I've instructed my husband to say "Thats creative" if he doesn't like something. So far so good. hehehe. ~jen~

Hello, I am new to blogging and new to your blog. I am not new to sewing or quilting.I love the patchwork quilt that you had been working on during the Olympics. I wonder ...did you ceate your own template? I would love to hav ethe deminsions. I think this would be a wonderful patchwork quilt to work on. I have so many fabrics and memories of each one. Would you share the pattern? Or is there a place I may purchase it?
