Phew !!

OK - just a quick post. Patrick and I are going shopping straight after I pick him up from school to buy him some much needed trousers. He is very into rollerblading at the moment and has managed to put holes in most of the knees of all his trousers. So off to the sports shops we go !
Here are nearly all my finished blocks. Couldn't actually get them all into the picture. AND I was up top of Jess's bunk bed to take this photo. I was fine climbing the ladder but nearly came a cropper coming down due to the fact I was wearing fluffy socks - silly me lol !!

Quite amazing that I have been through these blocks umpteen times to check on colours and pressing them and only when I took the photo did I notice the humility block !! I'll let you find it. It's not hard to spot. I've just laid these out any old how but will now have a play with them to get the final layout. I'm still undecided if to use one fabric for all the setting triangles or not !

Once these are all sewn together and I know how big it is I will think about borders. Probably won't get a chance to do much on this for a few days as I have a lot of work on.. Also I have been roped in to driving supervision. My DH and DD are both taking driving lessons and this week we have bought a cheap car for them to practise in as I didn't want them driving my car.... So I will be spending a bit of time chewing my nails in the passenger seat for some time. Wish me luck - I think I'm going to need it. I am a patient person but we will see how it works out AARRGH !
Have a great weekend and hope you all get some sewing done.

Your blocks look great! I actually like them laying on the red background. It makes a nice frame for the movement in the blocks. And how many times have I made blocks and thought they were all right and had the same experience as you! there's always one that we put together totally wrong!

I found the humility block ;) Did you make the pattern for the block? I think this will be a very beautiful quilt. I hope you have long enough nails to last while you go out driving with your DH and DD.

Your quilt looks really scrappy and great! That is one of my favorite block patterns. So, are you going to leave the humility block? I think it's cute!

In my pink and brown quilt I didn't see my humility block until I got it back from the quilters. Then it jumped out at me like WOW. Arghhh!!!

Gorgeous blocks Andrea, I've never yet seen a perefect quilt, and I love that we add a little piece of ourselves into each one we make. So will you leave it in or will it annoy you to bits?

I also made a squiffy one when I made bear paws! It's those ickkle triangles!!! I had to reverse sew it though as it was for a swap :O)
Have a good weekend and best of luck with the driving!

The blocks are looking great. I like how they look on the fabric you have them lying on.
Good like with the kids driving practice, I sure it will be fine.

OMG - you work so quickly! Those blocks are gorgeous and yes, I see the humility block. Isn't it funny how we see it afterwards on the computer screen? Will you leave it as it is or unsew it?

Way to go, Andrea!!! Your blocks look fabulous!!! My idea was the same as Vicki's - the red floor makes a wonderful background for your blocks - how about you find some fabric in that colour for your setting triangles? Have a think about borders... but honestly, if it is big enough as is, I think it would be great without borders... Just red setting triangles and a red binding. Best of luck deciding!

I spotted the humility block :o) Are you going to keep it that way? sort of fun to have a quilt with a "mistake" in it :o)

And my best wishes for you in driving with your DH and DD :o)

BTW I have just tagged you for a sweet treat (see my blog) - it was random so if you don't want to do it, no problem :O)

Looking good. I found the block. It's amazing how they show up on a photo when you can't see them in real life.

So glad you didn't fall. I have been known to climb upon tables, enches etc to get a etter photo.

With our boys, years ago,one was a natural driver the other benefitted from a couple of official driving lessons.

I looked at your photo and noticed THAT block straight up so was very glad when I scrolled further down that you mentioned it. I don't know if I would have been cheeky enough to mention it if you hadn't!
So far it is looking really impressive and yes I agree about the dark red background.

I just love the bucket bags that are shown on your blog & have attempted to sew one but am having trouble finishing it. I can't seem to find on your blog how to finish the edge of the bag & how to finish & attach the straps. Could you please post the rest of the directions please.
Thank-you sew much.

I'm really impressed with the speed at which these blocks went together, and they look great.
My boys went through a craze at school of taking a run-up and seeing how far they could slide on their knees. I mended their jeans at least once every week until someone started a 'leaping' craze and they began jumping around like monkeys to see who could get the highest. Just as annoying, but I didn't have to mend their clothes afterwards!

I found the odd block! Not to worry, we are all human.
It looks great laid out as it is on that red.
Good luck with the driving.

I love your blocks all layed out together. What a stunning quilt this will be. Are you going to put the Lady of the Lake poem on the back? Such a beautiful name for a quilt.
Drivers ed....UGH!!!! I will add you to my prayer list, teehee.

Oh...it is lovely, Andrea!!! I love it! You've worked that quilt up quite swiftly...given it has so very many pieces per block.

Good luck with the driving!!! Our two daughters (twins) are preparing for their test too. I'm thinking they need lots more hours behind the wheel...but they both seem (a little too?) confident. We'll see next week!

The humility block isn't easy to spot so relax. It's one of the unwritten laws of quilting, that when you put together a quilt, you can spend hours rearranging the blocks, but it's not until after you've sewed it together (and sometimes while you're quilting it!) that you realise that some pieces have jumped around when you sewed them, or two blocks of the same colour are together!

It looks amazing even with the uh-oh. How do those things creep into our quilts?

Good luck on the driving fun! My 17 year old son took driver's ed and now has decided he isn't getting his license for now. He is heading for New Zealand in January and won't be able to drive there so he will wait till he comes back. So I am off the hook for taking him out driving! WOOHOO!

Your Lady of the Lake quilt is a beautiful lady for sure! Who is the designer of this pattern? Your fabric selections are very well done.

WOW, I really like this one, I don't know what a humility block is exactly, but I guess I'll have to take a closer look. It is very pretty! I'm not very good with the triangles - is there a trick? Yours look wonderful! Em
