The Verdict

Well, thanks for all your lovely comments about Joans quilt. I do try and reply to as many as I can as I think if people are good enough to take the time to comment it's only good manners to respond. Sometimes however there just isn't enough hours in the day to do it all. So if I don't get round to replying please know that your comment is very much appreciated and welcomed.

Also I do try and visit all your blogs and comment as much as I can. Never thought blogging would be this much fun.

Anyway I went to my group last night and gave Joan her quilt. She was delighted and so surprised. She kept thanking me and saying how quickly I had done it. She was thrilled with how well it came out as she wasn't sure about her fabric choices. It was much nicer in the flesh than my photos. I never mentioned before but I actually used a fleece backing as I found a piece that I had here that was just the right size and colour. Meant to be !!! It was a really thick fleece and quilted up ever so well. I used a big meander and it was lovely and snuggly.

Some-one asked Joan what she was going to do with it and she replied that although it was originally intended for a grand-daughter in Canada there was no way now that she was going to part with it. She says she is going to use it to keep her knees warm in the Winter. I mentioned she has arthritis so keeping her joints warm is a must.

Joan is a really lovely lady and I was so pleased that she was pleased - lol ! It was nice to do this for her. I told her my housework has been neglected this week as I wanted to get this done. That made her laugh !!

Anyway back to my own quilts now. Here is the picture of the next round of my medallion quilt. The little block in my last post was my trial one and here is what I was intending. I like it although my corner block points do not match exactly with it's neighbour but I can live with that. I like things to look nice but a few mis-matched points don't keep me awake at night. The only thing that does that are my frequent visits to spend a penny - lol !
I also made a few of these with the triangles I cut off. I am so proud of myself - when I think that before I knew better I used to throw my scraps away - I will try not to dwell on that - lol ! These measure 2 inches !

Not sure what to do with this next . . . . I need to think about it.

I am getting tempted by doing some more of those funny little zig zag blocks. Shall I or not ?

The next round you made on your medallion quilt is beautiful. It must be so much fun to see the quilt growing! Good to save all the little bits and pieces, There's always another quilt in them!

Wonderful news on Joans quilt. Your middle name must be patience, all those teeny weeny blocks. Now I know where to send my fabrics when I have tiny blocks to piece *s*.

Glad Joan loved her quilt. Her reaction gives a warm fuzzy feeling!

The medallion looks good. Just let it tell you what it needs next. Might take some time so study and be patient!

You must be rewarded by Joan´s reaction. You have every reason to be proud of you too. It is a very nice and snuggly quilt.
I like very much your 2d row of the medaillon, the dark/bright contrast works very well.
I wish you courage for the house cleaning! Take care.

Oh...I like that round! Your choice of lights and darks is really good.

I'm like you....I don't get in a real panic if some of my points or seams don't match. I'm not perfect, so my sewing and quilting doesn't have to be either.

I'm so happy that Joan was pleased with her quilt that you finished. As for your medallion, the second round is terrific! I agree about the next round...let the quilt talk to you. It will tell you what it wants next. I'm tempted to try this myself one of these days.

I love the medallion, it's looking really good. Never thought you had that in mind for the applique block!
The zigs and the zags look like fun, couldn't hurt to make a few more....

Nice to see the medallion quilt growing. For the not quite matched comers if you had not said I would not have noticed. Anyway finished is better than perfect.

Are you designing this all on your own? I love the dimensional look to the zigzag bit.

Andrea..I didn't know another way to contact you. I saw a recent post on another blog where they gave you rblog address for the Bucket Bag Tutorial. I totally love this bag and want to make one. I am wondering what the measurements for the lining are. I think I understand everything else but before I start I want to make sure I have the right measurements. I would really appreciate it if you could help me out on this.
Thanks!
Judith

It must be rewarding that Joan is going to keep her quilt to keep her warm! Your medallion quilt will be lovely and of course you don´t have to worry about a few mismatches, I think that gives the quilt a character.

I simply loved your medallion quilt! Is this from a bought pattern, or are you making it up as you go? Are those zigzag borders paper pieced? Wow, it's going to turn out really nice!
