Joans quilt !!

Here as promised is the picture of Joans quilt that I just literally finished sewing the binding on. I really hope she will be pleased with it. It's funny working with some-one elses fabrics and colour scheme. I will have to dig out my version of this. It is completely different. Oh I just remembered - it's been on my blog. It's the one that was covering my DD Jess when she was asleep in the garden - lazy madam - lol !

I actually quite like this although they are not fabrics I would have chosen. A little bit samey but very nice nevertheless. I just quilted it with a big meander. I used some of my own stuff for the little border and binding - hope Joan approves. I thought the red gave it a nice touch !

I will give it to her tomorrow. After all this rushing I bet she doesn't come - typical of my luck. I know I didn't have to do it so soon but this is another quilt that I hadn't planned on making ( along with the MAM ). The sooner it was done the sooner I can get some of my planned stuff on the go. I haven't made any new DJ blocks for ages. Will try and put that right.

In between quilting this I did a little more to the applique block that will be the centre of my medallion quilt. I made a block first using some scraps and love how it turned out. I can just imagine a scrappy ziggy-zaggy quilt using this. BUT no I won't do it !! Concentrate !!
Happy sewing !!

Hi Andrea! That's a really cute quilt that you finished for Joan. Won't she be surprised when you give it back to her. I think that is wonderful of you to finish it for her that way.

Cute, cute quilt that you finished for Joan! :D Your inner border really adds to it too. :D And I LOVE that block you came up with! It will make a wonderful zigzag quilt. What size pieces/block did you do for a practice piece?

The colours in the quilt are (I have to admit) a bit samey, but with the red border it looks great. You are a star to make up someone else's quilt, and then give it to them. Excellent.

The quilt for Joan turned out so pretty. I wish I could see her face when you give it to her. I can see zig zags, too. Focus! Focus!

Joan's quilt turned out very nice. I too like more contrast but it's good to try somebody else's ideas once in awhile i guess.

That bit of red is just right, IMHO. I love a tiny border inside a wider.
I hope she does attend your meeting!

I'm sorry, but I just don't like Debbie Mumm fabric, it does nothing for me. But you've rescued this and made it a nice, sweet quilt and the story behind it will make it special.
Don't you love surprises? I did the same for a friend a few years ago who just couldn't go on with her piecing. But I told her there was nothing I could do to salvage her blocks, then invited her into the bedroom to see the latest quilt I'd finished.(hers) Cor, she cried and cried, she was so sure that it would all have to be thrown away. I'm a bit of a tease as well.....

Thanks for stopping by my blog. It amazes me that someone from Wales is visiting and now I am visiting you! Love your quilts. I don't have as much time to quilt lately.

Your act of kindness is inspiring. The red inner border you chose is perfect~it gives the quilt a zap of interest. I'm sure it will be a blessing to Joan.
