Sunglasses on !

My scrap quilt is done - right to a finish. Hurray ! I didn't want another UFO lurking about - I have far too many of them already. I started appliqueing them circles onto a nice cream background fabric but after doing 5 of them realised it wasn't doing it for me. Years ago I bought a sample pack from Ebay of a sort of shaded spotty stuff. Each piece went from light to dark of a certain colour and had a gold spot printed on. Every so often I would try to use a bit of this but it never seemed to work. Anyway I dug out the pack and just cut it up and began putting my circles on this instead - much better.

A quadruple strippy border went on too.

These photos should click - much brighter in real life and used up a load of strings.
I wanted a nice bright blue binding for this but didn't have enough of anything right. A little trip to Abakhan Fabrics was called for. I got my blue but hadn't planned to buy another 17.5 yards of other fabrics but that's what happened - lol !

When Patricks friends come for a sleepover they tend to doss down in the living room as it is much bigger than his bedroom. This quilt will be just right as an extra for his 13 yo mates to sleep under. Patrick is interested in Aliens and unexplained occurences such as crop circles so in Patricks honour this will be called Crap Circles - really I need to get a life - lol ! My family think I'm crackers :-)

As soon as it was done one of my 3 cats made a beeline for it and slept on it for hours. Thumbs up from Kasper.
I am coming up to my 3 year blog-birthday and have a little something planned.
Take care xx

Fantastic! What a superb quilt. Isn't it strange how fabrics sometimes have to mature for a few years and then exactly the right project comes up - the background is just perfect.

Love your quilt and the colors are fantastic!

I think cutting circles from your strings is one of the best ways of showing the fabrics off. The background fabric is very nice - I've not seen any quite like that. I love spotsted fabric.

I think that is Jasper quilt now, he really blends in with it and is so relaxed.

Sorry Kasper I didn't mean to rename you!

Just love it Andrea, lovely and bright. Did you applique those circles by hand or machine?

Wow...another stunner. By the look of that Jasper the kids aren't going to get a look in and he has claimed it for his own - he certainly looks very comfy cosy.

It's wonderful!!! I would prefer you call it 'Scrap Circles' instead of 'Crap Circles' because it's lovely!!!

Perfect name for the 'boys' quilt! I'ts amazing how many scraps we can get rid of when we try and how well they turn out. Well done You!!

Ohhh, I love it! It's wonderful. I want to make one. Sigh, it will have to go on "the list."

Since I claim that CRAP stands for Creative Resources and Projects, I think that Crap Circles is a great name for this quilt! I also absolutely love the quilt! The dotted fabrics for the block backgrounds really unifies the scraps. If's fabulous!

How does that saying go -you don't have to be crazy to work here, but it sure does help. Found myself thinking of this when your family thinks your crackers.
I love this quilt, it is stunning.

Love it! Andrea - I'm always a sucker for spots and stripes and you've got them both there - a really fun quilt for boyish sleepovers

It is awesome Andrea!
Another fabulous scrap quilt you just whipped up there! I'm wondering if it could be done "quilt as you go"?

Oh, what an inspiring quilt! I just love it, the way you appliqued circles with the strips going horizontal and vertical is just wonderful. Congratulations on a great finish.

This looks so good! Perfect choice to use the multi-coloured squares as a background. It really compliments your circles! (Shame about the extra fabric you bought, but you can't win them all!)

I absolutely love your quilt~ the cat is cute too! I have been wanting to make something with circles and I think this would be a good one to do -- thanks for posting. BTW -- I am American of Welsh ancestry so I really enjoy your blog and I bought the book as well!

I love this quilt! I have neglected reading all my favourite blogs for months, just as I neglected my own blog. But I have finally finished my PhD and I'm just dying to use up my monstrous stash which has taken over every room and drives everyone bonkers. I love these string pieced circles appliqued onto different, but toning, backgrounds. Brilliant idea. I will try it with some of my fabrics - it will look completely different to yours, but that is what is so exciting about patchwork and quilting!
