My latest scrap quilt !

As I explained a few posts ago my box full of strings was packed to bursting so I decided to do something with them. Instead of just diving in and sewing them altogether willy-nilly I wanted to do something more structured.

I ironed them all and cut them in uniform strips of 1.25 inch roughly 6 inches long. Once that was done I started sewing them into these.

Soon I had a pile like this.

Then I got a small pasta bowl I have and drew round it onto some fusible web.

And made 1 of these.

I cut out the middles of the fusible ( bondaweb ) to cut out the stiffness a bit. Here is a pile ready to be used.

I am not in the process of appliquing them by machine onto background fabric. My machine has been whizzing like mad - lol !

I am determined to get this done completely before I start anything new. Binding and all.

Next on the agenda is a baby quilt I need to make for Jess's college tutor. I know what I am doing for that thanks to Norma and Linda - because the baby is not born yet and they haven't found out if it's a boy or a girl I am thinking of doing 1 for each - the other will be kept til another baby comes along. But I want to get this done first.
Big day for us here in UK today - General Election - will we have a new Prime Minister tomorrow ?
Take care xx

Why not do one side of the quilt pink and the other side blue so it's reversible and suitable for either

Oooh....email me as soon as the election is done, I want to know who the new PM is. (for an American (aka Yank) I am weird that way.

You know I am an Anglophile, right?

A great idea for using up scraps. I'm sure you'll pull them all together in fabulously coordinated way. Can't wait to see!

I saw something similar on another blog, but like your idea better. I am anxious to see how you move forward with this!

I just read about the "hung parliment" due to no clear winner in the election. Sounds like a real mess.

I like this idea, a bit of a change form the normal string quilts I've seen

What are you doing with the circles??? :) You have not yet a new PM I believe, at least if the news here are correct.

Can't wait to see what you do with those circles. Its nice and scrappy, so I love it already :cD I tend to think like you do with the baby quilt thing. I figure if I end up with an "extra" baby quilt its ok because there is going to be some time where I can use it as a gift.

Since my strips box is also very full, I'm intrigued to see the results of your pasta bowl quilt!
