Jelly Roll. .

First off thanks for all the lovely comments for my giveaway. I saved all comments and emails and asked Jason to pick a number - he chose 22 - my birthday and this turned out to be the lovely Loulee. Please send your address and I will post the prize to you. Just for fun I had a try to roll it up like a proper jelly roll.

Not too bad but wouldn't like to do it very often - lol !!

And as promised a quick look at what I'm doing with my "real" jelly roll. If you've been reading my blog for long you may recall the story of the quilt I sold but didn't really want to. This tale of woe is here.
So for a long time I have wanted to make a similar quilt and decided to cut into my strips. Here are my first 6 blocks.

Now because they are all from one range of fabric - Gypsy Rose by Moda - they are all a bit mitchy-matchy and I am hatching a plan to bring them to life. Who knows if it will turn out or not - watch this space - I may need some opinions.

Take care xx

I really like your blocks. The colors are great and the pattern is sweet. What Pattern is it?

Oh Andrea, these blocks actually have the power to distract me. I must leave soon else I'll get side-strack-ted! ...and I'm serious.

How exciting that you will get to keep a quilt like the one you love! Can't wait to see how you break up matchy-matchy. That is a problem with jelly rolls.

Well I think your blocks are lovely, I like the effect of using the same fabric range but scrappy at the same time.

Your blocks look great. Mitchy- Matchy huh? I love that term and going to have to remember it. They would make a pretty quilt as it, but you are right - a little sparkle might be called for.

I think the blocks look pretty. I find that when I work on quilts with fabric from the same line that it is too matchy matchy for me, but I often like it when I see quilts other have done from the same line. I guess I prefer my work to have more of a scrappy feel.

Can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve for the "matchy" problem!

Love the blocks but agree with the mitchy matchy problem re jelly rolls and other pre cuts.

I sometimes buy two which gives a bit more flexibility and throw in a couple of plains from the range if possible.....did that for a Nells flower shop x 3 charm squares...now it has sat for a year waiting for borders and I even thought ahead to buy extra fabric from the range for borders etc.
I try to remind myself to buy not just a pre cut but a couple of bits of good mixy matchy from the range to pull them together.
I await with interest your solution.

Personally, I like them mitchy matchy! Not everything needs to sizzle :-D

I love your blocks too, can't wait to see the quilt further along.

I'm interested to see which bag you like the best out of the magazine.

The blocks are looking lovely, and you'll do a much better job this time with those same blocks, as you're much more skilled now! (You must be, as time has passed!)
