Abandoned no more.

Do you remember this ?

Started about 18 months ago and abandoned as I wasn't enjoying the piecing. I really loved the fabrics though and had cut about 100 melon shapes. So I had a re-think and with a bit of fusible web and some machine applique it turned into this.

You like ?
I do very much and am so glad I decided not to bin the whole thing. Here is a close-up of the border fabric. All from stash I might add. Another one in the "To Quilt" pile. One day I will get round to these - when I get a new quilting machine perhaps.

I have been working away in the evenings on some hexagons which I love. Just want to put a few pieces together before I show you.

I have also done a bit of baby-napping - lol !

This little cutie is the son of friends of ours. 10 weeks old and making me broody - well just a bit. I've borrowed him a few times to give his parents a little break. Jess took these photos of him on my bed on top of my old pyramid quilt. He has his own quilt on it's way - the top is done and I will try and get it quilted soon.

I received my Spring Swap package yesterday and can't wait to show off my goodies - next time !

Jason and I are real home-birds and rarely have a night out but last week we went to a surprise party for one of my cousins. A new outfit was called for so visits to clothes shops ensued. Not my favourite thing at all. It got me to thinking are you a true quilter if in an emergency situation you would save your fabric stash over the contents of your wardrobe - lol ! I know which I'd do..

Have a great Easter and try and get a few stitches done xx

Andrea - what a wonderful salvage job you did on those melon pieces so much nicer than the original project and I just adore the little squares in that wonderful spotty fabric border

Love it! So glad you figured out a way to finish it. It's absolutely gorgeous .... and that little cutie pie - oh my - I'd have borrowed him as well.

Got to confess the thought of all that curved piecing gives me the shivers - but your 'alternative' looks just as good (and so much less stressful to complete).

Andrea, your quilt turned out beautiful. I love it. Yep, in case of a fire, I would definitely save my quilting stuff before my wardrobe. I can always wrap up in a quilt, right? LOL The little guy is a cutey. Winona

I love the way that quilt turned out....how clever of you!! Oh and there is no way I would try and save my wardrobe over the stash...mind you half the stash could go as well and I probably wouldn't notice....!

you mean there's another option besides saving the fabric stash? LOL

Like what you've done with the melons - very pretty, especially the floating squares border.

Love it Andrea! That bright blue fabric just makes it sparkle! And you found the perfect border fabric! Isn't it just the best thing to make a quilt all from stash fabric?!!?!

Wow, that quilt is much better, I would hate the idea of all the circles..
Baby is beautiful, not many here to cuddle, we are all over the age of even thinking about it.
Happy Easter

That new top is beautiful. It's great when you can rescue something, and good to get back to UFOs too.

Absolutely beautiful quilt and baby!

Looks great! Now I don't understand why you would tire of all those curved seams though???

The baby is a cutie pie, and you are a very special friend to give the parents a break. Seems everywhere I turn lately I am seeing 1000 Pyramid quilts and keeps reminding me of the one I have started!

The quilt looks lovely! And the border fabric looks familiar, I think I chose something similar for the backing of my OC that's at the longarmers. (But can't remember now LOL)
What a cute baby and he looks great on your quilt. I would have been wonderful if someone had baby-napped mine for a few hours when they were small!

Wow that quilt is stunning. I'm so glad it didn't end up in the bin. Well done for rescuing it and for making something so wonderful.

Love the baby boy. He's so cute. Good on you for baby napping him for a while. No doubt his parents are loving the rest they are having.
