Are there things you do that really get on your own nerves ? I confess there are several things I do that really annoy myself - lol ! One is I'm forever putting things in a "safe" place and I can't find them again when I want them. I've lost countless hours of my life searching in vain for things " I'm sure I've seen them somewhere " Does this ring any bells with anyone ?
My main gripe about myself though is I am very last-minute. When I did a lot of dressmaking you can guarantee I was hemming a skirt or sewing on a button literally minutes before I needed to leave the house wearing the actual thing I had made.
Tomorrow is Mothering Sunday in UK and so I planned to give my mum the quilt she should have received for Christmas. Because I had flu in December this didn't get finished and also I decided to do some applique on it as the borders were too plain. The applique was finished a few weeks ago and the whole thing needed quilting. I took it to my quilt group on Tuesday this week to pin baste it on the big tables there. And then - - -I procrastinated - - a lot. I've baked cakes, done some cross stitch, made a baby quilt top, worked on a UFO. Everything bar getting the quilting done.
Well it is now the day before and I am working like mad to finish it. What a duh-brain I am ( as Patrick would say - lol ). I am taking a break to write this to give my shoulders time to descend back to their normal position and then I'll be off again. The quilting is almost done and then I have to cut and sew binding..... and I also want to add a few yo-yo's ( which I have never actually made before ) . I can see a late night ahead. My own fault ! It is now 4pm - wish me luck !
My family are giving me a wide berth - may have something to do with the fact I am still in last nights PJ's - who has time to dress when there is a quilt deadline looming ? :-) Think I need a shower........
Next post I will show pictures of what I've been doing this week when I should have been quilting. I will show you one of the UFO's I've been tampering with though which now looks completely different.
Catch you soon xx

Ha. I have several items that are VERY safely put away. I sure can't fine where I squirreled them away.
I, too, am still in last night's PJs. But it is only minutes before noon here. I have been sewing on a quilt MOST of the morning. (Yes, I have taken internet breaks.LOL)
Good luck on finishing.
I am always doing the last stitches minutes before deadline so I know what you are talking about!
Oh yeah, I know what procrastination feels like. Every time I get squeezed by a deadline I tell myself I'll never let it happen again, but then I fall by the wayside a bit later on. Guess it's just the way we are.
But it's looking good, so I hope you get it done without too much more hassle.Show us pictures before you give it away.
Good luck, I am sure you will manage to get it finished in time.
Weekend are for wearing PJs, I only just got out of mine.
your new project looks so interesting.
I too procrastinate when it comes time to quilt so I feel your pain.
Please let us know how it turns out.
i am doing the same thing have got the binding left to do to mum and dad 50th wedding anniversary quilt and i have only got a week to go. By the way i put thing away all the time and can't find them again.
I put things away so safely I can't find them half the time either!
I so wish I could have lent you my longarm to finish your mums quilt. It looks wonderful...and if I had a dollar for every thing I wanted to get done in a timely manner.... er... well, I could bail out those wall street banks!!!!I am certain she will love it no matter when she actually receives it. Oh, happy mums day to you as well.
I'm famous for those last minute stitches too!
I really like your new project. I've seen that pattern done by a lady in my Wednesday sewing group and it makes a beautiful quilt. Be sure to share when you finish!
I think you need to come up with better excuses....create logical sounding reasons why you have been "too busy" to get everything done on time. You have a great reason...you have to pace yourself because of your nerve problems in your arm!! Nobody needs to know you got distracted with another project! (big evil grin!!)
Ufo's are beautiful, I like the colours.
I am prone to do just what you do.. procrastinate. As to losing things, well, I have just about turned my house inside out looking for some precious photos which have vanished. Grrrr.
I know extactly how you feel, I work better under a tight deadline otherwise I will put off until tomorrow and have fun doing something else today, I have put the black and white quilt to the side this weekend and made a cute little wall hanging instead !
I hope it worked out and it all got finished in time, and don't be too hard on yourself.
I too am a master at procrastinating! I should be quilting something I want to take to show and tell on Saturday, but am on the computer instead!
Do you mean procrastination ISN'T normal? Darn. I thought I was doing things right for a change. LOL
As for putting things in safe places - I do that too. Although sometimes it turns out that the safe place is where it is SUPPOSED to go - and, of course, I would never think to look there!
