Seeing as I have a current obsession with hexagons I had to snap this one. It was huge and very well sewn. It was long-arm quilted in such a way that it did not detract from the pattern. I think most hexagon quilts I have seen have been hand quilted.

I love log cabin and I love blue so this one was great in my book. I got talking to the lady who made this and she told me it is for a friend who has ovarian cancer. She also flipped it over to show us the back of the quilt.

More log cabins but completely different. Very subtle and quite beautiful. I think made for a Golden Wedding hence the double wedding ring blocks in the centre.

This was so lovely and the hand-quilting was fantastic. This is definitely one where the photo does not do it justice.

The quilt with 'Hearth and Home' is, I believe, by Chris Marriage of Father's Heart (I'm pretty sure I've seen it hanging in her house!). And it's gorgeous!

Hi there. I'm a lurker, I'm afraid!! I've been following your blog for a few months after I fell upon it when I did a google search for the "Welsh Quilts" book. You are now in my favourites and I follow your quilting progress regularly. May I say I envy all the quilts you do. My usual hobby is cross stitching - My album:

but I've lately taken up patchworking. The trouble is, although I know the basic techniques, I just can't seem to choose the right fabrics!! So this is putting me off starting a big quilt. I keep buying books and mags for inspiration... and different fabrics!!
If I can introduce myself... I live in France, and have lived here for 18 years with my french husband and 3 daughters. I was born in South Wales, at Gorseinon, but then we moved up to Yorkshire - following the coalpit's road. My dad was a coalminer. They moved back to Gorseinon a few years ago and I have alot of family around the area - Cardiff, "The Bont" pontarddulais; Llanelli... My Mum does quite alot of patchworking - at the moment they're both helping with the renovation project in Dylan Thomas's house in Swansea.
Anyway, thanks for all these beautiful photos, I particularly like the "Hearth & Home" one, as I love all Country Style things.
Have you read the "Elm Creek Quilts" series of books by Jennifer Chiaverini?? It's a series of novels which I saw recommended in a french patchwork magazine by a canadien designer. They follow the lives of different quilters, telling the stories of their lives, the quilts they make, etc. They're very inspiring... but as I said to my husband, they make me want to quilt, but I can't put the books down so haven't got the time!!!
