Happy New Year !

Here we go - 2008 !

I have decided to go along with May Britt's challenge to use January as a finish it up month. As such I decided to count up my UFO's thinking I would have about 7 or 8 at the most. I was completely wrong - I have 20. You could have knocked me down with a feather - lol ! I am in the process of sorting out what I could finish fairly soon and will post pictures soon. Some of these are needing quilting and some others are long term projects like my DJ and my hexagon quilt. Whilst digging about I came across my hexagons and have been doing a bit of work on that. I love the Grandmothers Flower Garden quilts and mine is a variation of that. Here's a bit I did this week.

I will post a picture of what it looks like so far only I don't have much time today.

I have also been playing catch up on Bonnie's mystery quilt. As I started it a lot later than a lot of other ladies I really want to get my units pieced before she starts putting them together. I have done parts 2 and 3, which I think was the most time-consuming and will try my best to get parts 4 and 5 done before next Friday when the next installment is due. In these little baskets are 180 3 inch 9-patch blocks. Phew - glad they are done.

I also dug around on the pc and found photos of my nephews football quilt. This is the one I think he has outgrown a bit. His new one ( which he has requested ) will be a little more grown -up. Nothing too fancy for a 15 year old boy I'm thinking. Once I catch up on the mystery quilt I'm going to go through my fabrics and have a think of what I can do.

Kids are back to school next week and I will be delighted to see them go - lol !! They are getting a bit bored now - especially Jess.

Let's hope 2008 is a good year for everyone with plenty of FINISHED quilts !!

I'm sure you really did only have eight ufo's. You've forgotten that they multiply during the night?!? LOL You're in good company.

Love the quilt. It's so youthful and vibrant! I'm sure he'll adore his new one too!

Happy 2008 to you and yours!

Only 20?? Try having 65 UFO's and 70 unquilted tops, like I do! But that list will shorten when we get the new house built, because then I am buying a longarm.

Beautiful blue colors in the hexagons, what size are they?

The colour of the hexagons is a beautiful blue. I think sets of hexagons like that made into a set of table mats would look fabulous on a plain blue ( darker or lighter ) cloth.

Happy 2008! Happy quilting!

I'm sure you'll be able to make a dent in the pile during January. I too have counted my ufo's, but I'm keeping the final tally a secret. Way more than 20 though!
Love the hexagons, very fresh and pretty, and the mystery is looking good too. It's been great fun seeing everyone's progress, hope you catch up on the rest of the parts!

I love Grandmother's Flower Garden too! You block is lovely.

Only 20 UFO's. I'm not going to even count mine because I really am afraid my number is much larger than 20. However, my goal is to complete some of them in this year....but first I have to finish the applique for DD. That one has priority!

I have a pile of Grandmothers Flower Garden blocks that I have been working on for a couple years, one of my favorite. I've seen that challenge quilt on other blogs and that looks like fun. Now on the subject of UFO's, I know I have a pile!!

Great to catch up with you Andrea! You have been as busy as every - and as usual you are choosing projects and patterns that really appeal to me. I'm so glad you are doing Bonnie's mystery also - it's going to be so much fun to see how they all turn out.

Now that I've retired I'm going to do my very best to stay up-to-date with my blog reading!

Wow, those hexagons are so cool! I'm going to have to see how to do that sometime soon. I can't imagine how to get all of those seams sewn... I've never done anything like that before! So pretty! Em
