Apologies in advance for the awful photos. My camera has vanished so am having to make do with my phone.<br>
My partner was Illene (www.retdairyqueen.blogspot.com) and here is the beautiful runner she made me. Beautiful fabrics and gorgeous Australian animals. This will be finding a home in my new sewing room when it gets completed. Thanks so much Illene - it is gorgeous. I also had a great Australian calendar and a little choccy bar as well as the cute ornaments I've already shown.<br>
Great swap - such good fun.<br>
Would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year and all the best for 2014. I'm actually going to sew - way behind on Bonnies Mystery so hope I can catch up a little x</p>

I have a lot of cream, beige and light tan neutrals to add to these. I am aiming for an Autumn theme. <br>
Have most of the pieces cut and a few sewn together. <br>
I am enjoying sewing again. My poor machine had dust on it - clue 2 is out tomorrow. I probably won't keep up as I am decorating 2 bedrooms as well. But thats ok - I'll go at my own pace x</p>

Having a few health issues-  waiting for a date for surgery. Also been busy with decorating - fingers crossed I will be planning a sewing.room soon. <br>
To get me back into my quilting - I have talked myself into starting Bonnie Hunters new Mystery Quilt. I had decided not to do it but had an about turn and hopefully will make a start at the weekend.<br>
My SSCS has arrived and I look forward to opening it on Christmas day. I will open the little ornament on Dec 1st when I officially start thinking about Christmas.<br>
Take care x</p>

I can hardly believe I have a 23 year old. <br>
I have been working hard to complete this crocheted blanket for her and just about got it done. She knew I was making it and had seen it in various stages. But she had not seen it for a while as I was only working on it when she wasn't here. She loves it and I am very relieved to have it finished - it's a big heavy thing. Will hopefully get a proper photo of it soon.<br>
I am so much into crochet at the moment although I have been doing a little on some UFO quilting projects.<br>
And should have more time for proper blogging soon - life has been a bit overwhelming lately but times they-are-a-changing and for the better.<br>
Thanks for sticking with me - so behind on emails too. Will I ever catch up ? <br>
Take care x</p>

My lovely nephew is going through some health issues - and he also had a birthday - his 21st to be precise. Combining the 2events led naturally to the making of a quilt.</p>
<p>I have made him a couple before and he has trailed them around everywhere with him - nice to know. I wanted to make him something more grown-up ( his first one was a really colourful football quilt ) </p>
<p>This is what I came up with. Rectangular plus blocks in navy blue, dark aqua and orange. The backgrounds are many shades of cream and grey. I am thrilled with it and thankfully so was he. Quite difficult to make a quilt for a young man I think.</p>
<p>The day after the picture was taken - his birthday - he was off to hospital for radio-surgery on an abnormal mass of blood cells in his brain. This has been causing him to have seizures and puts him at risk of stroke. A lot to go through at this young age. He is doing well and is hopefully out of hospital today - just waiting on the phone call to collect him. </p>
<p>I hope he loves and uses this quilt as much as his other 2 - love him to bits.</p>
<p>I am also working on a UFO that is very time consuming but I know will be fab when done.</p>
<p>Everyone have a great weekend x</p>

But they just weren't doing it for me and so got put in a bag and left.<br>
Until this week when I dug them out and started unpicking and re-making. Much happier with them now and glad I decided to go this way.<br>
My crochet hook is on fire -lol x</p>

I followed a tutorial on checkoutgirlcrafts blog and really enjoyed it. <br>
A couple of firsts here - I had never made a hoop and had never worked with wool felt. <br>
My daughter will soon be leaving home and moving into her own place -sharing with a friend. Not sure when but should be before the end of the year. Her large bedroom will be snapped up by my lad but I will get his room to be my sewing room - yippee.<br>
So this little hoop will go on the wall in there along with quite a few mini quilts I've aquired over the years - going to be great.<br>
I will be spending the weekend sorting fabrics - they are not as organised as usual and I need to get them so I'm not wasting precious sewing time looking for that elusive piece of fabric !!<br>
Have fun x</p>

I have been doing a lot of crochet but will do a separate post on that. I also got very excited when Julie from littlecottonrabbits.typepad.com released a couple of her patterns. I have long admired her gorgeous creations. So after a few (ie - many) hours work this is the result. Came out ok for a first attempt although I must admit I did say a few bad words when unpicking the ears for about the fifth time - could not get them right. This has gone to one of my oldest friends who is having a major health issue. I've told her it can be her lucky mascot when she's attending her many hospital appointments. She is a knitter herself and loves it. <br>
I've made another one since and started number 3. <br>
Since I have no idea where these photos will be in this post I'll just say that mine has the blue shoes and pink dress and my friends has the fair isle dress. <br>
They are so cute and the pattern is excellent. One of the best I've followed.<br>
Back soon x<br>

<strong><span style="color: #351c75;">I love English Paper Piecing and have several ( cough ) quilts in progress. I actually finished one a few months ago but haven't got round to showing that yet. Anyway this year is all about my UFO's and I have been working away on a hexie quilt. This got started maybe 3 years ago and so it was about time it received some attention. I remember cutting one hexagon from each of my fabrics and the plan originally was a grandmothers flower garden with white paths. I made lots of flowers - each flower had seven fabrics from one colour. Can't remember how many I did before I changed my mind - and unpicked the lot. Then I put them into triangles - 10 in each grouping... nope - unpicked again.</span></strong></div>

<strong><span style="color: #351c75;">The borders are not sewn on yet as I really can't make up my mind whether to do it or not. The other semi-idea I have is to finish sewing on the white hexies and applique the whole thing onto a single fabric - maybe a blue. And then sew several straight borders on each edge - something like 2 inch strips in different colours. I'm not explaining this very well - I'll see if I can find a picture of what I mean. </span></strong></div>

<strong></strong><br />
<br />
<strong>Well here I am - thanks for all your well wishes -I am so very behind on emails and comments - don't think I'll ever catch up so may not even try. Life is settling down a little now and although normal is a long way off we are slowly getting there. My lovely sister - aged 50 - had a massive stroke the week before Christmas - completely out of the blue. She is still in hospital nearly 8 weeks later and is facing a long recovery. She is making progress and is gradually starting to walk etc although as yet has no movement at all in her left hand or arm. We have spent a lot of time at the hospital. As you can imagine it has been awful although there is light at the end of the tunnel. She was not quite lucid for a few weeks but that has thankfully settled down and she is doing great. She is surprisingly cheerful and is showing sheer determination to recover as well as she can. She is awaiting a wheelchair and is having lots of intensive physio. We are taking a day at a time. Anyway as she is such a kind person she has decided she wants to give a small gift to one of the nurses who is pregnant. She asked if I had anything suitable and it just so happens I had an I-Spy baby quilt on standby. I will take this in tomorrow for her to give to the nurse.</strong><br />
<strong></strong><br />

<strong></strong><br />
<strong>I am also trying to catch up with some UFO's. So far I have resisted starting anything new. Not sure how long I can hold out though.... My Easy Street is coming along - will hopefully have pictures to show of that soon. But here are a couple of small quilts that I've been working on.</strong><br />
<strong></strong><br />
<strong>This has been hanging around for a good couple of years. It is a schnibbles pattern called X-Rated.</strong><br />

<strong>It was made from a charm pack I received in a swap several years ago. The sender was a lovely woman called Marlene who has sadly since passed away. I wanted to make borders on this but had no charms left and nothing seemed to match. Anyway last week an idea popped into my head and here we are.</strong><br />

<strong>This is a bit of a washed out picture - the colours are much richer. This was going to be a big quilt but appliquing four blocks was enough - tried the back basting method and it worked great but just didn't want to do any more. A few hundred( or so it seemed ) paper pieced flying geese and this little quilt was born. Like I say I am hand quilting it and am pleased with how it's looking.</strong><br />

Some of you know what my family is going through at the moment and just now I don't feel ready to talk about it properly. Thanks for your understanding and feel free to send any prayers this way :-)<br />
<br />
I loved my SSCS gift and thanked my partner privately although this post is very late. This is what arrived at my home made by Cheryl - sorry can't get the links working - my brain is tired...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
It is far lovelier in real life and such a lot of work - beautiful embroidery !! I will look after this and it will grace my bed every Christmas for years to come... Thankyou so much Cheryl...<br />
<br />
And heres what I sent to Jenny.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
And because in spite of all that is going on at the moment I really, really needed to sew and this afternoon I cleared a bit of time and had a few blissful hours to myself. I have decided to join the soscrappy Saturday challenge. This months colour is pink and I have lots of pink scraps and had picked my block so got my first one done. Here it is<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy21WSrZXDY_cI4UOZYHSYjAQvk0oQlHs9bX83OQ960fScnH68NYQ51mDBQwHdIxKwJvqgpToZ4tuKHey6QIio_B3ipUJDByjGGbE14akrUOlZIvG1kY0gV9gOp6sw1dzCGsHRndIarKyH/s1600/scrappy+star.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy21WSrZXDY_cI4UOZYHSYjAQvk0oQlHs9bX83OQ960fScnH68NYQ51mDBQwHdIxKwJvqgpToZ4tuKHey6QIio_B3ipUJDByjGGbE14akrUOlZIvG1kY0gV9gOp6sw1dzCGsHRndIarKyH/s320/scrappy+star.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Heres is the <span style="color: #cc0000;"><a href="http://www.add-crafter.com/2012/04/basketweave-braid-star-block/"><strong>link</strong></a><strong> . . </strong></span><span style="color: black;">Think I've got this one to work..</span><br />
<br />
I also put together 1 block for Bonnie Hunters mystery quilt - I am way behind on this but really want to get it done within the next couple of months. However it might not bode well as this block has already got to be unpicked - yikes.<br />

<span style="color: #674ea7;"><strong></strong></span><br />
<span style="color: #674ea7;"><strong>Can you see it is all hand stitched and is amazingly well done. I love it so much I am a little loathe to actually use it just yet - it is currently on display on my book case. But soon I will be brave and use it for the purpose it was intended - lol. <span style="color: #674ea7;"><strong>I have also received my gift from Chooky's Secret Santa swap and it is safely stashed away ready for the big day. <strong><span style="color: #20124d;"></span></strong></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
<strong><span style="color: #20124d;">Before I start telling you about the new stuff I'm working on I thought it was time to show what I've finished. Not quite sure if my UFO list is getting any smaller though. The first quilt is for my son ( 15yo ) He is as skinny as a rake and loves cuddling up in his quilts. However a couple he has got are a bit babyish for him now so I decided a new one was in order. Here is the centre of the quilt. Many different blues for the asterisk blocks with scrappy red squares inbetween. These asterisk blocks are a LOT of work and took a long time to make. Once I got to this stage I stepped back and decided it was just not working - way too much red. The quilt sat for a while until I figured out what to do with it. I didn't really want to waste all that time. I tried to find a border fabric to tone down the red but was unsuccessful.</span></strong></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
<strong><span style="color: #20124d;">So I decided to cut up the blue fabrics I had left ( leaving out the lighter ones) I made them the same size as the blocks and laid them round the quilt. It needed something else and so the bright aqua border was auditioned and whaddyknow ? Success ! Or at least I thought so :-)</span></strong></div>

I knew I did not want to make this many and so stopped when I had enough for a wall quilt. These were all made from my scrap box and were mainly hand pieced from templates. really good fun and I adore this quilt. The winner of my little giveaway has been picked and I already have her address so a little parcel will be on it's way this week. Could it be you ? lol</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #674ea7;"></span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #674ea7;">And because I don't like to post without a photo here is Jess's birthday cake I recently made.</span></strong><br />

<strong><span style="color: #674ea7;">I have been on a bit of a mission to find a great chocolate cake recipe and think this is THE one. Not dry, not overly sweet and a fantastic texture. Definitely a winner :-)</span></strong><br />

<strong><span style="color: #674ea7;">See you soon xxx</span></strong>Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11444423403574283524noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1308478399254492251.post-38713721377538118932012-08-29T11:47:00.001-07:002012-08-29T11:47:06.323-07:00Time fliesWell I won't bore anyone with the problems life is throwing at me and my family so I'll just move on to the nice quilty stuff.<br />
I have a few finishes to show because although I haven't been blogging I must have been sewing ( and knitting ) as things are d.o.n.e...<br />
<br />
<br />
First up a quilt that I seriously could not have given away if it wasn't going to a special person. My lovely sister was 50 last week and I worked my socks off to get this done for her.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-VmvSx_huYnnW82e3tRiKoEidPddPyE0Ha0pSByM10BznNl2zKt9nKU_Yris__NOT5A56E3Ia2tmXgeLwozfXJ13FjpB1_wx1mVCa4UZ7zqbSLMcrXWJf80HcTk_ljXMTBvInrj1ref7v/s1600/mos+close-up+%25282%2529_1024x768.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-VmvSx_huYnnW82e3tRiKoEidPddPyE0Ha0pSByM10BznNl2zKt9nKU_Yris__NOT5A56E3Ia2tmXgeLwozfXJ13FjpB1_wx1mVCa4UZ7zqbSLMcrXWJf80HcTk_ljXMTBvInrj1ref7v/s320/mos+close-up+%25282%2529_1024x768.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is English Paper pieced and then appliqued to a border strip. I would have loved to hand quilt this but time was not on my side so a machine stipple in a lovely variegated thread and a scrappy binding finished it off. I think it measures about 60 by 72 inches so a good snuggle size.</div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also now have a new baby niece - born 2 weeks ago and so beautiful ( of course ) I will make her a quilt in time but in the meantime I have made her these. Two little cardis in neutral colours as they were unable to tell her the sex of the baby due to the way she was lying. And also this really groovy crochet blanket that I had a lot of fun making.</div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL0vVKtkn6WRuEiumyov1Mv_-HVTuiraKZ7T7hj37v7PLekXzlkU_YudaYiHMlpIlEqC3Lk3kFskW8ydVn0xwXeUIE4daTtYqKMIZ1pESsfJ9LreUVXdLidPaEEYNHFO3KKabJrMEt8o4v/s1600/baby+cardis+(2)_1024x768.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL0vVKtkn6WRuEiumyov1Mv_-HVTuiraKZ7T7hj37v7PLekXzlkU_YudaYiHMlpIlEqC3Lk3kFskW8ydVn0xwXeUIE4daTtYqKMIZ1pESsfJ9LreUVXdLidPaEEYNHFO3KKabJrMEt8o4v/s320/baby+cardis+(2)_1024x768.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgggW-kVzi-VFozYoEriXkf1hVqAKUgjyFluww1r0xEmNLaNVH_pmhLt2Q1XZsh6WnCOBEU0E12hxNZwq7iUm_i54QGfrFgWHwbQDTwFmen1QBeShP56mnw1Aue-fgOe32jYRhYPYCxeROG/s1600/tulias+blanket_1024x768.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgggW-kVzi-VFozYoEriXkf1hVqAKUgjyFluww1r0xEmNLaNVH_pmhLt2Q1XZsh6WnCOBEU0E12hxNZwq7iUm_i54QGfrFgWHwbQDTwFmen1QBeShP56mnw1Aue-fgOe32jYRhYPYCxeROG/s320/tulias+blanket_1024x768.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also made a quilt for my friends little girl Charlotte - this is not the best picture as I thought I had taken one before I gave it but apparently not. This came out well and I think little Charlotte liked it better than her mum - lol ! Not sure she quite "got it"...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNpi_sjNsfY4RqUxp7OskJNIhiCa65V43NgVs36sS5KQwoAtSNqjoqlfebc4OUQYpjVjPwQ5iAkR5EvwymoXa4x9bvcWojq6HHdIrer7gAtUOj76Cdntxn_reCwh7zHDwBCWNlh5-lZwh5/s1600/charlotte_1024x768.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNpi_sjNsfY4RqUxp7OskJNIhiCa65V43NgVs36sS5KQwoAtSNqjoqlfebc4OUQYpjVjPwQ5iAkR5EvwymoXa4x9bvcWojq6HHdIrer7gAtUOj76Cdntxn_reCwh7zHDwBCWNlh5-lZwh5/s320/charlotte_1024x768.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also made a Granny squares top simply because I had piles of browns and tan squares lying around. I liked it when it was done but had no use for it so sold it on ebay...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpJ3YjFk7Zjt4yCly5l4sGsqz2p5HC6wswhaJ8gIabwNg9vglf92uGB60FWLhNUMbOw25jUe7oMRrusApw5FuW4shVOjSzGeZ8nQ3gEyLFiAljItZc4nf3EwO138kuwZgggXXhQiORJUYK/s1600/granny+squares_1024x768.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpJ3YjFk7Zjt4yCly5l4sGsqz2p5HC6wswhaJ8gIabwNg9vglf92uGB60FWLhNUMbOw25jUe7oMRrusApw5FuW4shVOjSzGeZ8nQ3gEyLFiAljItZc4nf3EwO138kuwZgggXXhQiORJUYK/s320/granny+squares_1024x768.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have a few more finishes to show but will do them again. And just to let you know that I haven't been THAT good I have also started some new projects. I have wanted to do something from this book for a while.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPuYDjkViaopV2zU1w_mKCM5wS_IRAdm-ueVPfkFPY2Jomb8ALWz5Azteqj2_hVHk6VxUaneHyP4w9BXWbeOtidLLHAeo-dGzbCi0ixGv2aTGUdZ8izhrLoVMQWI5cTfJIs8KW6W53icqX/s1600/log+house+book_1024x768.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPuYDjkViaopV2zU1w_mKCM5wS_IRAdm-ueVPfkFPY2Jomb8ALWz5Azteqj2_hVHk6VxUaneHyP4w9BXWbeOtidLLHAeo-dGzbCi0ixGv2aTGUdZ8izhrLoVMQWI5cTfJIs8KW6W53icqX/s320/log+house+book_1024x768.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And so on Saturday afternoons ( when I normally have a nice chunk of time ) I am making little paper pieced log cabin blocks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEFoeTVxIxc0Gi0nAHp0RJm0ScA5aqfeij97_JGr7S4c255xkAMjOmj03h8et1bp-RrWmE6jcRt2Xz35vuhNuqIMRAR0-Sgum6TkrPmgjX57SMWSPYNWr42CYiiryIk918PuzygpyWNdzW/s1600/log+houses+1_1024x768.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEFoeTVxIxc0Gi0nAHp0RJm0ScA5aqfeij97_JGr7S4c255xkAMjOmj03h8et1bp-RrWmE6jcRt2Xz35vuhNuqIMRAR0-Sgum6TkrPmgjX57SMWSPYNWr42CYiiryIk918PuzygpyWNdzW/s320/log+houses+1_1024x768.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Which when sewn together ( after having the paper removed ) look more like this..</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE_zocAapZPMlCfKvMqSQxoz_fvVdiGto7FCyqvHz2T8yV2KWSOh2ziYncfeu22mU0kJfJUwlOmM28DGc6OYE1KnREcA7IZflArIGFi_hUxS5NT3rqUA-m5PoMXhKKKirQig6wzZqNo0JI/s1600/log+houses2_1024x768.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE_zocAapZPMlCfKvMqSQxoz_fvVdiGto7FCyqvHz2T8yV2KWSOh2ziYncfeu22mU0kJfJUwlOmM28DGc6OYE1KnREcA7IZflArIGFi_hUxS5NT3rqUA-m5PoMXhKKKirQig6wzZqNo0JI/s320/log+houses2_1024x768.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And if you've stayed with me this far - thanks ! I am having a bit of a de-stash. Tell me your favourite colour and I will have a little drawing in a week or so for 4 fat quarters ( random selection ) to the winner. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope blogger posts this - it has taken a while as my photos were all over the place - lol. My pc sure could do with a sort out. Take care xxx</div>

I have boxes of little scraps separated into colour and recently saw something on a blog ( forget who's -sorry ) that had me hotfooting it to etsy to buy this </strong></span><a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/62446539/rosies-rose-paper-pieced-quilt-block"><span style="background-color: red; color: blue;"><strong>pattern</strong></span></a><span style="color: blue;"><strong> Pretty, pretty.</strong></span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: blue;"><strong>So a little bit of mess later I have these.</strong></span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5lrUIn6Ma4U1WrYFJ0rSq6NmDIj1kPa501OwkGuNCJi_dFn7iI3iEKZnaE88iD9TdV8Dx5zpIaadxSylTyfmzrQnEk0ld1OMNd0rfT1Wfhyzps9w8uTkDkXpi5ccYVYw_qmIe5X_dsRB0/s1600/P1010003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="color: blue;"><strong><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5lrUIn6Ma4U1WrYFJ0rSq6NmDIj1kPa501OwkGuNCJi_dFn7iI3iEKZnaE88iD9TdV8Dx5zpIaadxSylTyfmzrQnEk0ld1OMNd0rfT1Wfhyzps9w8uTkDkXpi5ccYVYw_qmIe5X_dsRB0/s320/P1010003.JPG" width="320" /></strong></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="color: blue;"><strong>The dream I have is of one day having a sewing room of my own. For now I have my sewing table set up in a corner of our bedroom. I have plenty of space but when the kids leave home I am going to take over one of their bedrooms and spread out... In this room will be all my sewing machines, fabrics and all the usual paraphenalia and in a corner will be room for a tiny little bed - just for me - lol. If I want I can escape the snores of my DH and sleep amongst my treasures. On this bed will be a quilt ( of course ! ) and I have decided that it will a Rose quilt - so here is a long term project - by the time I get this room - way in the future - I may just have enough blocks ( quite time consuming making these ) to make my quilt. They are 6 inch blocks and have 51 pieces...</strong></span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: blue;"><strong>Now I have a lot of scraps so they should see me alright for a while. I have a ton of blue scraps and although in real life blue roses are not the norm - because this is <u>my</u> quilt I am thinking I will make one in blue and see how it looks. We shall see.</strong></span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5ol06yXWEYL19bXEM3UQZEIBbo47dda8faXBaVEi3L7TfRaZfhYpe4lZpJexICSqJgGWInlKHhUbylRNFAN04ZD5hFQRhwfrKVRKVgySeimDIL_0oDcDzOVHn7GNeJ1SKMlRIwQOjTVT1/s1600/P1010004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="color: blue;"><strong><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5ol06yXWEYL19bXEM3UQZEIBbo47dda8faXBaVEi3L7TfRaZfhYpe4lZpJexICSqJgGWInlKHhUbylRNFAN04ZD5hFQRhwfrKVRKVgySeimDIL_0oDcDzOVHn7GNeJ1SKMlRIwQOjTVT1/s320/P1010004.JPG" width="320" /></strong></span></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: blue;"><strong>I have loads more stuff to catch up on so will be back soon. This weekend I plan to do one of my favourite parts of quilting - binding - love it.</strong></span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: blue;"><strong>See you soon xx</strong></span>Andreahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11444423403574283524noreply@blogger.com18tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1308478399254492251.post-54313248029418216192012-06-16T07:08:00.000-07:002012-06-16T07:16:02.854-07:00My Oldest UFO and catching up....<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #674ea7;"><strong>In an old box rescued from my parents house along with school reports and certificates I came across a piece of embroidery I had done in Primary school. I thought hard and actually remember working on this - I was 10 years old and now I am 43 so it's quite a treasure. It was tacked roughly onto a piece of cardboard and was stained in several places.</strong></span></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #674ea7;"><strong>I carefully unpicked it from the cardboard and with my heart in my mouth washed it very gently in my kitchen sink. I was so hoping it wouldn't fall apart or that the colours would run. Luckily neither event happened - phew !! Once dry I trimmed it down and added a couple of little borders. Then I hand quilted it and added binding. I really love it and am so glad to have it done. I will add a label and may even mount it in a frame. My DH can't believe I embroidered this at age 10 but I guess I was always destined to have a needle in my hand. Here it is...</strong></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #674ea7;"><strong>Whilst browsing through my photos I realised I have never shown photos of a quilt I finished last year. There is a bit of a story to this one.. A while back I was unable to sew due to a back injury which turned out to be a slipped disc. During this time I did a lot of crochet as I could manage to do this whilst lying flat on my back. But my fabrics kept calling to me and one day I put some fabrics together that would end up in a quilt. These were put in a box and forgot about. Months later I came across them and whilst browsing about on the web I came across a pattern on the sewwequilt website. Here is the <a href="http://www.sewwequilt.com/2011/11/guest-blockerjennie-with-pinwheel-toss.html">link</a>. I decided to get this quilt done and it was the quickest quilt I ever made. I love this quilt so much - I have named it my Morphine Quilt because those were the pills I was taking when I chose the colours - lol..I use this quilt a lot when I'm reading and feeling a bit cold. </strong></span></div>

A few minor health issues and other stuff have gotten in the way of blogging I'm afraid. I'm still reading all my blog list and even commenting but this poor old blog is very sad....</b></span><br />
<span style="color: blue;"><b>I have been hard at work finishing some UFO's and just need to charge up my camera and take some photos. <span style="color: blue;"><b>My final total was 27 and that for me is too many. My aim is to try and get to single figures by the end of the year. We'll see how it goes.</b></span><br />

<br />
<strong><span style="color: #4c1130;">I won't show you everything I've been doing - will save a bit for again. But for now here goes</span></strong><br />
<br />
<strong><span style="color: #4c1130;">You may remember these</span></strong><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQpdsuCJ1JQLmxfWiYM1iSy51iZBx-PVAgn-ixDJTbHePaJSVICp8W77tgT5b_IY5kf30rjYVDO5pa89AcQydeeRd80cUYNEXsldS9nywo0ehA9EoWwapITfuedct00TUHS4sPTQRn6Ld6/s1600/flying+geese+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" nfa="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQpdsuCJ1JQLmxfWiYM1iSy51iZBx-PVAgn-ixDJTbHePaJSVICp8W77tgT5b_IY5kf30rjYVDO5pa89AcQydeeRd80cUYNEXsldS9nywo0ehA9EoWwapITfuedct00TUHS4sPTQRn6Ld6/s320/flying+geese+1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><strong><span style="color: #4c1130;">leftovers from a quilt top I made several years ago.</span></strong></div><br />
<strong><span style="color: #4c1130;">They turned into these</span></strong><br />
<br />

My Mum had asked me to make a quilt for a Christmas gift for my Dad's sister and her husband, I asked what sort of design and colours etc and Mum left it to me - the only info I got was that her living room ( as this is sofa size ) was quite neutral with creams, tans, browns etc. So I got making this. When finished I took it to Mum and she liked it so much she didn't want to give it away so ended up buying it for herself and getting my Auntie something else - lol ! Love it...</span></strong><br />
<br />
<strong><span style="color: #4c1130;">It was snowing the day we took it to Mums and I got a very rare snap of DD Jess ( too cold to take her hat off ).</span></strong><br />

Will do that next time.</span></strong><br />
<br />
<strong><span style="color: #4c1130;">Seeing as it is a New Year and all my UFO's are done ( lololol - I wish !!! ) Don't even want to count them. Anyway when I saw this </span></strong><a href="http://summerfete.blogspot.com/2012/01/rose-star-tutorial.html"><strong><span style="color: #4c1130;"><span style="color: red;">Quilt-a-long</span> </span></strong></a><strong><span style="color: #4c1130;">I knew I would have to join in. I decided to try and tempt </span></strong><a href="http://www.sewkalico.blogspot.com/"><strong><span style="color: red;">Karol-Ann</span></strong></a><strong><span style="color: #4c1130;"> into it and although she put up a token amount of resistence she quickly joined in. Go see her lovely blocks.</span></strong><br />
<br />
<strong><span style="color: #4c1130;">Instead of going with my normal scrappy I decided to have a colour scheme going on with this and was inspired by a small bundle of FQ's I bought last year. I am picking colours out from this fabric.</span></strong><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkGz-KXTGD7O9zmn64f4o09n_SMnzCrgCfWwyslOHi0psaTEOcHhyEiial1raMRtNWWpXDUIjq8CzevtK8GmENMkTFn7OSg8gHrh14IvFb7bDs6bs0xq2_BXJ-FFw8tVLvOvx0zEzpPc8n/s1600/focus+fabric.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><strong><span style="color: #4c1130;"><img border="0" height="240" nfa="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkGz-KXTGD7O9zmn64f4o09n_SMnzCrgCfWwyslOHi0psaTEOcHhyEiial1raMRtNWWpXDUIjq8CzevtK8GmENMkTFn7OSg8gHrh14IvFb7bDs6bs0xq2_BXJ-FFw8tVLvOvx0zEzpPc8n/s320/focus+fabric.jpg" width="320" /></span></strong></a></div><strong><span style="color: #4c1130;">I have also had fun going through my stash and seeing what else "goes with "</span></strong><br />
<br />
<strong><span style="color: #4c1130;">Here are two</span></strong><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWx8Q6uNSVzGtaXPRAO9t1dmY7DeLLD-Ez646mO-AiUvqvxDVPWvmNqSZy5D-iDxIMl4REgZthOYpuF_hOHIuN-fzqQNLjwrlPoMuGsIoNE8iZi-qTBKTOZIiBW7lES5ISKir4dnZP39gc/s1600/stars.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><strong><span style="color: #4c1130;"><img border="0" height="240" nfa="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWx8Q6uNSVzGtaXPRAO9t1dmY7DeLLD-Ez646mO-AiUvqvxDVPWvmNqSZy5D-iDxIMl4REgZthOYpuF_hOHIuN-fzqQNLjwrlPoMuGsIoNE8iZi-qTBKTOZIiBW7lES5ISKir4dnZP39gc/s320/stars.jpg" width="320" /></span></strong></a></div><strong><span style="color: #4c1130;">And two more with background fabric added.</span></strong><br />

I was just sorting through my neutrals to see what else I could use and this pinky/bluey mottled stuff was in the wrong drawer. I took it out to put back with the pinks and just quickly placed a block next to it and whaddya know - a winner - lol !!</span></strong><br />
<br />
<strong><span style="color: #4c1130;">Last night I got a bit more prep done </span></strong><br />
<br />

<br />
<strong><span style="color: #4c1130;">I have had a lot of headaches this week so once I come off here I'm going to have a nice cup of tea and do some relaxing hand-sewing. Should be filing our Tax Returns really but not much fun in that is there ?</span></strong><br />
<br />
<strong><span style="color: #4c1130;">Yesterday was so wet and dark that I decided I needed to brighten up my day a little and knocked up a couple of these - rainbow pincushions.</span></strong><br />
<br />

These are BIG - about 7 inches across as that is just what I wanted. Later tonight I will probably sort out my pins - flower head - applique - glass head etc and put them all in the different sections - yes I am that sad - haha ! Will be nice to have them all in one place. I will give one to my friend on Tuesday at our sewing group.</span></strong><br />
<br />
<br />
<strong><span style="color: #4c1130;">Just one more photo for you cat-lovers. A rare snap of all three of my babies altogether. They all get on fine but tend to like their own space so I love this photo.</span></strong><br />

Many thanks to Chooky - she is taking some well-deserved time off to herself just now and who can blame her - can you imagine how many hours she has put into organising this ?</span></strong><br />
<br />
<strong><span style="color: #741b47;">I was going to end the year by listing my UFO's but that was too much like hard work. For now I am simply saying I will NOT start anything in January and work on some of my many WIP's. I just could not resist joining in with the quilt-a-long on <a href="http://www.buildinghousesfromscraps.blogspot.com/">Jeanne's</a> blog. I do not plan on making one a day though as I know I will never keep that up so will probably just stop when I've had enough. I am making mine a bit bigger too - 5 inches. I have re-drafted the block and made plastic templates and have been going through my scraps tracing out the little pieces. I have quite a few ready to go. Was a bit naughty and stitched one up just to test it out. Which was a good thing as I had stitched the door unit and window units together wrongly - silly me. Have re-done this now...</span></strong><br />
